About Bev Barnett
My most joyful and genuine self-expression emerges when I coax a richly textured narrative from materials that might otherwise be dismissed as mere trash. And my journey as an artist is also richly textured - as a singer-songwriter, paper maker, natural dyer, sculptor and fiber and mixed media artist.
While I employ many techniques and materials, texture always weaves through the narrative of my art. It may explicitly express a sense of place, or subtly hint at emotions and sentiments. In every piece I create, texture is the conduit for storytelling.
Current works include fiber and mixed media sculpture, weavings and collage.
