About Dan Lydersen

Dan Lydersen is a visual artist known for his intricately detailed oil paintings that combine art-historical and pop-cultural references to create surreal and darkly comedic allegories. Often under the backdrop of suburbia, rural America, and the myth of the American West, the bizarre cast of characters that inhabit Dan’s paintings reflect his fascination with excavating the weird and grotesque from the seemingly banal.

Dan’s work has been exhibited widely in galleries and museums throughout the US and abroad, including three solo exhibitions at Jack Fischer Gallery in San Francisco and two solo exhibitions at Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City, California. He studied art at the American University of Rome and received a bachelor’s degree in fine art from UC Santa Cruz in 2002. He received an MFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2007 and currently resides in Sacramento, California.
