'Moonlit Daffodils' .A misty Californian night presents white daffodils tilting beneath a swirling full moon — a deep blue wash punctuated by tiny golden orbs that suggest fireflies. The scene conveys a quiet, watchful stillness with a hint of movement in the tall grasses.

“Build a Cat” presents a colorful cat reading a lively collage of assembly notes, playful diagrams, and colorful shapes

"Green Dragon" - A young dragon watches over her tiny hoard of gold.

"Hydrangeas" — a watercolor and ink study that presents cool blue and lavender blooms against a wash of spring greens. Loose washes and delicate linework convey the petals’ velvety textures while translucent layers and tiny gold flecks add a luminous, slightly mysterious atmosphere.

"Allegro with Reds" - A luminous watercolor that presents a loose bouquet of magenta and deep-red blooms spilling from a purple vase. Energetic linework and playful washes suggest motion—tendrils and leaves spiral outward across a warm, lemon-tinged ground. Layered purples and reds sit against translucent greens, with small accents of vermilion and violet bringing rhythmic contrast.

"Flowers for Happy" - A joyful celebration of nature, I love flowers, and unique containers to show them off. Flowers are one of the "happy places" in my home.

"Puddle Dancer" is one of my all-time favorites. She represents the joyful child within us, dancing in the puddles.

About Elaine Schaefer Hudson
My work is lighthearted, funny, and whimsical. I love to play and share that playfulness with others.
I’ve been around a while. If I search thru the studio, I can probably find the art degree I earned during the last century. Explored various mediums: oils, ceramics, textile art, jewelry, printmaking, fashion design…some more successful than others. Now I work primarily in watermedia, although that may change. Just rec’d some new art supplies to play with.
I create because it’s the only thing I know how to do. It drives me. I dream of ideas and images. Color distracts me, patterns fascinate me, shiny objects….the same. Puzzles are an addiction.
