About Monica Engebretson
Monica Engebretson is a resident of Carmichael and creates ceramic sculptures and functional pieces made by ceramic technique called handbuilding. She was born and raised in Nevada City and graduated from Humboldt State University with a major in Wildlife and a minor in Environmental Ethics. She has worked professionally in the non-profit animal protection field for over twenty years.
Monica’s pieces are inspired by the beauty of animals and their relationship with the environment. Her focus is on animals and their essential role in the natural world, emphasizing the stark contrast between their peaceful existence and the often-harmful relationship humans have with nature, which threatens the well-being of animals. Other works incorporate quotes from renowned individuals, intended to inspire reflection on how we treat animals.
